The internet is weird.
A few weeks ago, I published a comment on my friend Matthew Paul Turner's wife's blog.
(You with me? Okay. I told you the internet was weird.)
A friend of hers saw my comment and followed the link to my blog, which you faithful folks are currently reading. She discovered I am a Methodist minister who can string some words together to form (mostly) comprehensible sentences. She also happens to be an editor for Circuit Rider, a fantastic magazine published by the United Methodist Publishing House.
The planets aligned. God's providence reigned.
She asked me to do seven (!) articles for her. These Sermon Starters were to be based on the lectionary texts, and well.. here they are:

Aren't they lovely!!?! It is funny to me that I keep getting published in wonderful places. Unfortunately, none of these publications are actually available on real paper (unless, of course, I print them out and bind them myself). But, they did get sent to Textweek.com , which is a fantastic lectionary resource. You have to scroll down a bit, but you'll see them looking something like this:

So, Internet, thank you for being weird and wonderful.

I have been working through the book
The Artist's Way lately and what I have discovered is that the magic of art is being willing to let go of fear and put yourself out there. When you do that weird and strange things (like inspiring others!) will happen. So congrats on your accomplishments Mandy!
You crazy 21st century kids with your crazy online, ipod rock and roll, and crazy words of meaning splashed across the world at the speed of your crazy light...yet you still celebrate a crazy and wonderful God. Congratulations!
BTW,the adjective crazy I used there with God is intended to replace the word awe which was desecrated by President Bush early in the 21st century.
I followed the link to Textweek when you tweeted it earlier today. I skimmed the page and read, "Mandy Sloan Flemming, United Methodist Church Circuit Rider." I thought to myself, "That's a funny way for a Methodist Pastor to refer to herself in the 21st century. But hey, whatever." (Yes, I later figured out that "Circuit Rider" was the name of the publication. But it was funny for a few minutes.)
I've had snippets published in a series of books...actually available at bookstores. In fact, I received an email this week that I'm in a new book fresh on the shelves. It's a cheap little thrill, but a thrill indeeed. It also feels a bit naughty to hide behind a nom de plume, and then to introduce to an actor in Blue Ridge, GA as that name. I have to agree that the internet makes all sorts of strange, unexpected things possible.
